This year’s fairs attracted a total of 39,121 visitors, around 3% fewer than in 2009. There were 4,395 visitors, representing 57 nationalities. The media representatives included 270 foreign journalists.
“Many people – both exhibitors and visitors – said that this was the best Stockholm Furniture Fair and Northern Light Fair ever,” says Cecilia Nyberg, Event Manager for the Stockholm Furniture Fair and the Northern Light Fair. “There was a real sense of optimism and belief in the future. It feels as if the furniture industry is confident of an economic recovery.”
This year’s event was bigger than ever before, with around 780 exhibitors in an area covering approximately 40,000 m². There were also plenty of new features, including a bigger exhibition hall with an additional 10,000 m² of space, a newly renovated East Entrance, a new layout and additional weekdays.
“The new hall décor and our focus on directly targeted seminars and inspirational exhibits for our visitor groups of architects/interior designers and shop owners/staff went down extremely well,” continues Cecilia. “Our guest of honour, Sir Paul Smith, was given a very warm welcome, with around 750 visitors attending his talk on the opening day.”
