“Our practice transformed overnight, really. A bunch of our designs were picked up there, and we began several enduring collaborations.”
MSDS is a Toronto based design studio that was founded by Jessica Nakanishi and Jonathan Sabine in 2011. The studio produces design that engages contemporary culture while adhering to the abiding principles of good design and the inheritance of craftsmanship. Their work synthesizes considerations of material, form, space, and brief into resolved works of interior, furniture, and lighting design. This multi-disciplinarity informs the resourcefulness that is the hallmark of their practice. Their clients include Woud, Muuto and David Design.
MSDS first showed at Greenhouse in 2015. They showcased a shelf system, a daybed, a chair, a pendant light, a table light.
