For 2023, Stockholm Furniture Fair has developed a concept for downscaling as a step towards a more sustainable way of designing and building stands. In collaboration with innovative material partners Recoma and Tarkett, Stockholm Furniture Fair presents a small-scale pilot of what could be a new approach to exhibiting.
The Nude Edition is an area with 11 pre-built stands made of recycled and recyclable material. The area offers the visitor a quick overview with the products being in focus. Products on show have a high news value, are innovative and relevant from a sustainability point of view and are displayed in an attractive design setting.
- We have been listening to our exhibitors. Many of them searched for a pared-down alternative to an ordinary fair stand, with less effort put in the planning process and most of all to reduce the climate footprint, says Hanna Nova Beatrice, Project Area Manager of Stockholm Furniture Fair. With The Nude Edition we want to make a small-scale implementation of an idea, and a pilot of what could be a new approach to exhibiting at Stockholm Furniture Fair.
Booths, floors, and podiums are clad in an innovative material from Recoma, 100% made from recycled composite packaging waste in a process without waste, emissions, or additives. When the fair is over, the material will be returned to the producer and circulated to new material.
- RECOMA saves waste from incineration and gives it new life as a low-carbon, circular construction board, says CEO Max Rosenberg. It’s made from 100% recycled packaging waste in a process generating zero waste and using zero additives. The product is also 100% recyclable, thus contributing to a circular economy.
The carpet tile flooring in the area consists of tiles from Tarkett, DESSO Recharge. An innovative product that after the fair will be re-used in a new project.
- This is a truly circular product, says Maria Wennerstrand, Nordic Segment Manager, Tarkett. It was designed to be disassembled so its components can be easily recycled into raw materials for new carpet tiles. The beauty of circularity comes across in the irregularity and textural variation of the design.
